Photography Profile: Louise Smit

At the blossoming age of only eighteen, Louise Smit has already started becoming an inspiration within the realm of photography. Luckily for me, I had the very privilege to interview this lovely lady, so let's see what she had to say.

How did photography all begin for you?
It began when I found my Dad's old box of 35mm cameras at the age of 12. My love for photography runs in my blood. At one stage I was rarely seen without a camera slung around my neck. From there I'm pretty much self-taught.

Where are you based?
In Brisbane.

Do you have a specific style to your photography?
At this stage I'm still growing so I haven't limited myself to a particular style. Light plays a big part in my images though, I love to play with it.

What inspires you?
Beautiful people and places. Anything and everything. I'm really attracted to raw, simplistic beauty in photographs. Femininity and minimalism are key to my inspiration.

Any projects you're working on now? Any future goals?
I'm currently planning a few shoots and will be taking some photos for a boutique in the next week or so. I'm also in the process of making my website. I have many goals and the list grows everyday, right now my goals would be focusing on my business and to be constantly building my portfolio.

What have you learned from your journey as a photographer?
My journey has only just begun, but so far I've learnt that it's a tough industry, and 'people skills' are very important along with forming contacts. You can't sit around waiting for projects to magically appear either.

Where can readers find more of your work?
When I update my work it goes straight to my blog: http://louise-smit.blogspot.com/
